Fijians out of NZ 7s

FIJIAN duo Vilimoni Koroi and Joe Ravouvou have been dropped from the New Zealand 7s team ahead of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Paris.

According to a report from World Rugby, the team will arrive to take part in Paris on May 14 with a number of injuries following a tough campaign over the past five months.

Scott Waldrom, who is the coach of the team has named three new caps. Jamie Booth, Fa’asiu Fuatai and Jesse Houston who made the cut to join the 14-man squad.

Missing out on the list are captain Scott Curry, Dylan Collier, Joe Ravovou, Isaac Te Tamaki, Beaudein Waaka and king pin Vilimoni Koroi, who returns to Mitre 10 Cup duty.

The report said: “There is some good news for New Zealand, though, as more experienced heads such as Joe Webber, Lewis Ormond and Sam Dickson will bolster the side at round nine of the series.”

The All Blacks Sevens are currently fourth in the standings but are yet to win a tournament in 2016-17 series.

They will play USA, Wales and Argentina in Pool B.

Meanwhile, Australia have made three changes ahead of the Paris tournament that finished fourth in Singapore last month.

Alex Gibbon, Boyd Killingworth and Dylan Pietsch all return to the set-up while former captain Tom Lucas misses out on the event after being ruled out with a knee injury.
