The Vodafone Fijiana XV are set to depart for England this Wednesday for the Women’s Rugby World Cup, following the announcement of its 32-member squad.
Head Coach Ioan Cunningham named his brigade on Saturday night at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi.
Fijian Drua Women debutant Alfreda Fisher Maria will lead the team to England and 10 senior players that appeared in the previous World Cup have been named as well.
The squad is made up of players from the Fijian Drua and the Fijiana 7s team, including a handful of players flown in from overseas.
Head coach Cunningham shared what now lay ahead for them following the announcement.
“We will be playing teams ranked in the top 10 in the world, so we will be challenged by the speed, physicality, and intensity they bring,” Cunningham said.
“We want to inspire the nation through our performances and show the world what incredible athletes we have — with speed, power, and a ruthless edge.”
