VODAFONE Fijiana XV head coach Ioan Cunningham has confirmed his line-up for the team’s final Rugby World Cup 2025 match against Wales, set for early tomorrow morning.
Cunningham has blended experience with fresh talent, making strategic adjustments following Fijiana’s strong performance against Scotland. Despite injuries and suspensions, he says confidence in the squad remains high.
“We’ve tried to reward performances after the Scotland match, where the players showed tremendous effort and skill,” Cunningham said. “Of course, there are a few forced changes, but that’s why we have a strong squad we back every player who takes the field.”
Front-rower Karalaini Naisewa starts at loosehead prop, with Keleni Marawa at hooker and Vika Matarugu at tight head. In the second row, Asinate Serevi earns a start, replacing Mereoni Nakesa, who shifts to the bench.
“We’ve kept the back five largely the same, with Asinate getting her chance to start. She’s trained exceptionally well, and we’re excited to see her take the field.
“We’ve also made changes on the wings, with Repeka Tove returning on the right and Kolora Lomani starting on the left after making a big impact last week.”
Serevi, who captained Fijiana to their famous 2022 Rugby World Cup win over South Africa, said she was thrilled to earn her first start of the tournament.
“I’m beyond excited. Getting my first start in this World Cup was one of my goals. I plan to bring physicality, create space, and lift the team with energy, especially in the tough moments.
“We’ll bring the same heart, fight, and unity into this last match against Wales,” Serevi said.
