PRUDENCE may be the guiding principle driving the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team forward in their pool when the Cape Town 7s kicks off this Saturday.
The team is grouped with Great Britain, New Zealand and the United States in Pool A.
There will be renewed interest for the team this week as a concerted effort to mitigate their weaknesses and refine their strengths takes on paramount importance.
Head coach Richard Walker’s side meets the Americans once more following their earlier meeting in Dubai last week, where they won 19-7 in what had been their first pool match.
The game kicks off at 8.44pm on Saturday.
More than three hours later, the Fijiana will meet Great Britain in their second pool match at midnight.
Their final pool match against New Zealand will be held at 3.48am.
New Zealand and the Fijiana meet once more following their earlier meeting in Dubai last Sunday where the former won 31-12 in their final pool match.
Despite the loss, the Fijiana and the Black Ferns topped Pool A and qualified for the semi-finals.
The Fijiana were then beaten 10-31 and bowed out to head to the third-place play-off while New Zealand advanced into the final against Australia and won 29-14 to lift the Dubai 7s women’s title.
In the third-place play-off, the Fijiana went down to Japan 12-22 and finished fourth in Dubai.
