Fijiana players to boost Marist Sea Hawks

MARIST Sea Hawks have been boosted with the inclusion of four Fijiana 7s players in its squad to participate at the Coral Coast tournament tomorrow.

Speedster Anamaria Roqica, Rusila Tamoi, Lavenia Tinai and Roela Radiniyavuni will feature for Marist Sea Hawks, a side that has ended twice on the losing side during the past two cup finals.

Last year, Marist Sea Hawks lost to Fijiana in the final and were second best to Aussie Pearls.

Tomorrow in its opening pool game, Sea Hawks play Raiders at 12.20pm at Lawaqa Park.

Club official Tapenisa Kunatuba said they had been unfortunate for the past two cup finals.

“We will try our best to win this year,” she said.

She said defence would be crucial for them.

“From the first game, we will make sure that our defence is good and we will take each game at a time. It’s not going to be easy to reach where we reached for the past two years but we will give our best shot again this week.”

She said the presence of Roqica, Tamoi, Tinai and Radiniyavuni would uplift the team’s spirit.

“These Fijiana players have the experience. They will be playing for us so it is a huge boost to have them in the team as we try to win our first Coral Coast 7s title.”

Sea Hawks face Sydney Fiji Ranadi and Sunnybank from Australia in their remaining pool matches.
