Vodafone Fijiana XV head coach Mosese Rauluni believes they will need to elevate their performance when they face the Wallaroos on July 6 at Allianz Stadium in Sydney.
Following their 24-15 victory against Japan last week, Rauluni’s side has taken a one-week break from camp to recover and re-plan for the Australians next Saturday.
“We have a week off from camp training before we prepare for our routine.
“The Wallaroos will be a strong side, so we need to recover well. We are working hard to step up to another level against the Wallaroos,” Rauluni said.
Rauluni also confirmed that more provincial players will be integrated into the team after the Wallaroos match as they prepare for future Test matches and the 2025 Rugby World Cup.
“We won’t be getting in other provincial players for the Wallaroos match since it’s a short turnaround but during the eight weeks we could talk to bring in some of the better players, get their fitness level up, and see good opportunities for them,” Rauluni said.
The Fijiana is aware that most of the Wallaroos players will be from the Waratahs team that defeated them in the Super W final.
The Fijiana XV will miss their fly-halves mentor, Seremaia Bai, who has joined the Flying Fijians camp.
“He’s got the opportunity to help the Flying Fijians we could still survive without him, our show must go on, but he’s left us in a better space he’s a really wise and a good teacher and the girls have really bonded with him well. Sad to lose him but hopefully we can try and get him back next year,” Rauluni said.
