Fijiana impress despite shaky start

THE Fiji Airways Fijiana seven’s team have finished in seventh place at the Cape Town seven’s leg thrashing Great Britian 47-7 in the seventh-place playoffs.

The Fijiana put on a commanding performance against Great Britian scoring seven tries.

Reapi Ulunisau was on fire scoring a hat-trick, Atelaite Ralivanawa, Silika Qalo, Lavena Cavuru, and Sera Bolatini each scored a try.

Nia Fajeyisan scored Great Britain’s sole try.

Fiji led 19-7 at half time but came back strong in the second half scoring 28 unanswered points.

In the pool stages the Fijiana had lost to USA 7-15 in their opening match, they bounced back against Great Britian 40-0 but were thrashed 19-31 against New Zealand in their final pool game.

In their fifth-place playoff’s the team went down 14-33 against Canada.

The team’s seven place finish place see’s them sitting on sixth place after the opening two legs of the series.

The next leg will be in Singapore from January 31-Feburay 1.
