Team Fiji women’s rugby sevens team finished in last place at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Fijiana failed to win a match at the tournament, going down 15-21 to South Africa in the 11th/12th place playoff.

This is their lowest-ever finish at an Olympic Games.

Fijiana had ranked 8th after the 2016 Rio Games and surged to an all-time high in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with a bronze medal win.

From third just three years ago to a disappointing 12th place finish in Paris.

Two yellow cards to Sesenieli Donu and Ana Maria Naimasi hurt the Fijiana in their match against South Africa this morning.

South Africa scored two converted tries to lead 14-0 at the break and furthered the scoreline just two minutes into the second spell to put the result well beyond reach.

Fijiana managed to score three unconverted tries to Kolora Lomani, Verenaisi Bati and Talei Wilson but it wasn’t good enough to claim the win.

The team departs France tomorrow and will be in the country on Sunday.
