Fiji’s Wavi Island to be auctioned – SUPPLIED

A prime slice of Fijian real estate is set to go under the hammer next month, with the internationally marketed sale of Wavi Island drawing fresh attention to Fiji’s exclusive freehold property market, reports Yahoo Finance.

The 27-acre private island, located just off Vanua Levu near Savusavu, will be offered without reserve on December 19, 2025 through a luxury auction managed by Miami-based Platinum Luxury Auctions, in partnership with New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty.

Wavi Island has moved on and off the market for years, most recently carrying an asking price of USD 20 million.

Yahoo Finance quotes auction organisers as saying interest is strong because the island is one of the very few freehold properties available in Fiji — a country where more than 90% of land is held under leasehold.

Connected to the Vanua Levu mainland by a 450-metre private bridge, Wavi offers full utilities and proximity to Savusavu Airport, blending seclusion with convenience.

The island has been partially developed, featuring one completed luxury villa and 19 additional oceanfront lots ready for construction.

Shared amenities include a community centre, marina, tennis court and manager’s residence.
