The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has revealed its squad for the 2024 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season, marking its third campaign in the club’s infant history.
The squad headlines 18 Flying Fijians who have had a successful international season, including the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France; and will also feature five rookies fast stepping up to first class rugby.
The Fijian Drua has also announced its 12-member Development Squad, and features six new rising stars of Fijian rugby.
Fijian Drua CEO Mark Evans said the 2024 squad featured a host of experienced Fijian internationals and a group of talented youngers ready to fly the Fiji flag in Drua colours.
“Our goal as always is to make the people of Fiji proud. We understand their expectations full well. Fijians are the world’s best rugby fans for a reason, and we’re eager to show them and the competition what we can do in 2024,” Evans said.
“And with seven games in Fiji for the first time ever, our fans can look forward to seeing their favourite players take on the some of the world’s best right here at home.”
Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Head Coach Mick Byrne said they had selected a squad they believed could compete in one of the world’s toughest club rugby competitions.
“We will be out to make an even bigger impact in 2024, so it’s fantastic for us to play a record seven games in front of our passionate fans. The seven teams coming over next season will definitely notice that,” Byrne said.
