The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua are determined to secure their first win of the season when they take on the Chiefs at Churchill Park in Lautoka tomorrow.
After three consecutive losses, head coach Glen Jackson believes the team has learned valuable lessons and is eager to deliver a strong performance in front of their home crowd.
“We’ve had an opportunity to win three games. We haven’t, but we’ve picked up three bonus points.
“It’s been a tough couple of weeks on the road, so we’re looking forward to getting back to Lautoka,” Jackson said.
The Chiefs, coming in with three wins and a squad full of All Blacks talent, pose a significant challenge.
Jackson highlighted the Chiefs’ strength in scoring from lineouts and turnover attack, areas where the Drua must be disciplined.
“We know they’re a quality outfit. We have to be smart with our ball retention because if we don’t look after the ball, the Chiefs will punish us,” he added.
Despite their rough start, Jackson remains confident in his squad’s ability to compete at the highest level.
“The morale is very high. The boys know how close they’ve been to winning. Now, it’s about execution.”
A vocal Lautoka crowd could provide the extra push the Drua need to claim their first victory of the season.
