For the village of Bouma in Taveuni, hosting the FIJI Water Flying Fijians at their waterfall has been a blessing.
Head of mataqali Iosefo Rapuga said the villagers put on hold all their daily chores to welcome the players and officials.
“We are really looking forward to the visit. It is something we don’t get to witness every day and we will cherish this for years to come,” he said.
The 62-year-old said the waterfall had been a very sacred part of their village and they acknowledge the team for choosing to visit it.
“We are so happy they chose to come here. Every time anyone wants to go the waterfall the women from the village oil their skin so we oiled five players before the team could get into the pool.”
The visit was one enjoyed by the Flying Fijian players.
While many took to the cold waters to relax themselves others helped out in the chores.
Semi Radradra, Peceli Yato and Iosefo Masi were seen picking chillies off branches while coach Simon Raiwalui enjoyed a bite of the Taveuni lemon.
