WITH 11 home-based players starting against Portugal and another five on the bench, there’s a real sense of excitement in the look of the FMF Flying Fijians this weekend, team manager Simon Poll said.
“To me this team had a real look of unpredictability and excitement about it. Just look at the outside backs- Sireli Bobo’s the only overseas-based player there.”
Poll believes it could arguably prove to be one of the most talented back-lines Fiji’s fielded in a long while with players like Jack Prasad, Kameli Ratuvou, Maleli Kunavore, Neumi Naunku and Jo Tora able to play almost anywhere in the backs.
The players have been training each morning in the gym under the watchful eye of fitness trainer Jim Blair who’s just as enthused about the attitude players have adopted.
