The return of French captain and number 8 Grégory Alldritt is set to take centre stage as he lines up against Viliame Mata in what promises to be a ferocious battle.
Both men are known for their game breaking abilities, their fierce defence and leadership, their highlight reels are littered with collision victims, dominate tackles game changing moments.
Grégory Alldritt recall as captain highlights his leadership and impact as a backrow player,
as the Les Bleus plan to bounce back and make a statement after their 17-32 loss to the Springboks last week.
When asked by the French media on his matchup against Alldritt, Mata was full of praise for his French opponent.
“His probably one up there as a top 8 so his going to be one to watch in the team. He is a great leader a great player, so he’ll be one to watch.” Mata declared.
Expect a fired-up French forward with the return of captain Alldritt against Fiji tomorrow.
But Mata has assured they won’t let their guards down and will be ready for anything the hosts bring them in Bordeaux.
“If you watch the Top 14, they mostly play upfront so it’s going to be a physical battle upfront with the forwards, so we need to match their physicality and be ready for anything.” Mata explained.
The battle between these two number eights will be a direct clash of styles and leadership.
The result will depend heavily on which team’s forwards can dominate the physical contest and generate momentum for their respective attacks.
While Alldritt provides consistent excellence and leadership, Mata’s explosive potential makes him a game-breaker for Fiji.
