Fiji U19 braces for a tough challenge

THE Fiji national under-19 football squad is gearing up for a challenging match as they prepare to host the Australian Joeys team at Churchill Park in Lautoka this Saturday.

The team began their training camp at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa on January 6, with head coach Dhirend Chand expressing optimism about the upcoming fixture.

Chand views the match as a crucial test for the players, offering an opportunity to assess their readiness for international competition.

He noted that the team has been diligently preparing and is focused on executing their plans effectively on game day.

“This match against the Australian Joeys is an important test for our players,” said Chand.

“Our preparations are really going well, the boys are really focused, the understanding of football is their now, the plans that we are making it is executing well.

We have also completed a period of individual preparation, and this fixture will allow us to assess how well the players apply their training in a competitive match environment.”

The coach acknowledged the strength of their opponents, highlighting the quality of the Australian side and the possibility of them including overseas-based players for the match.

“Our opponent they are one of the best sides, I think they also getting their overseas based players for this match, they are a national side, so we will be hoping for a good game this Saturday.
