Fiji Tourism sees slight June increase

ABOUT 92,000 visitors entered Fiji in June this year.

Fiji Bureau of Statistics CEO Kamueli Naiqama said the figure was an increase of 0.1 percent over last year’s arrivals during the same period.

“Provisional numbers show that visitor arrivals for June 2025 totalled 92,693 a slight increase of 0.1 percent compared to a year earlier,” Mr Naiqama said.

“There is an increase of 7.1 percent compared to May 2025, which recorded 86,587 arrivals.”

Mr Naiqama said in 2024 and 2023, arrivals for June stood at 92,571 and 90,460 respectively.”

He said a majority of the visitors were tourists who came through Nadi International Airport.

“Of the 92,693 visitors, 91,136 came by air while 1557 came by sea.

“The sea arrivals were mostly seamen on fishing vessels (1051) and 506 arrivals by yacht.”

In June 2025, visitors arriving for holiday purposes accounted for 80.5 percent of total arrivals, 8.2 percent came to visit friends or relatives, 2.2 percent came for business purposes, while 9.1 percent visited Fiji for other reasons.”

In Parliament recently, Tourism Minister Viliame Gavoka said more than 350,000 tourists had arrived within the first five months of this year.

He said the most visited regions were Denarau with 22 percent of visitors visiting the popular destination, the Coral Coast with 21 percent, Nadi – 17 percent, Suva/ Tailevu – 13 percent, Mamanuca Islands – 10 percent and the Yasawas – 4 percent.

Mr Gavoka said the ministry’s goal was for Fiji tourism to be a $4billion industry with 1.25million visitors by 2027.
