Fiji will send 38 Republic of the Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) personnel as part of its proposed support package to assist the Vanuatu government’s ongoing response efforts towards Tropical Cyclone Judy and Kevin.
The team will include engineers and medical experts, a 12-member Fiji Emergency Medical Assistance team (FEMAT), and five officials from the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) to coordinate the support for Fiji.
Cabinet had approved the proposed support package at its meeting yesterday.
It stated that food rations and water was also part of Fiji’s support package given the severe damage to farms and fresh water sources in Vanuatu.
Fiji’s support is being complemented by the New Zealand government and Fiji Water.
