Executive members of the Fiji Taxi Association met Deputy PM and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad in Suva today.

The association was represented by officials from the Suva, Nausori, Navua, Nadi Airpott, Lautoka and Rakiraki associations, and had informed the Deputy PM of their concerns on issues faced by taxi drivers around the country.

A Government statement issued today stated that matters concerning fuel prices, compliance with taxi meters, maintenance of the standard of taxi services at the respective local airports, and illegal taxi operators and road conditions in rural areas were brought to the attention of Mr Prasad during the meeting.

The Deputy PM assured the representatives that proper procedures would be followed and the Finance Ministry would look into the issues raised with the relevant authorities to provide assistance at the earliest.
