His vast experience in the political arena is what Ro Kiniviliame Kiliraki will bring to the table when he campaigns under the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) banner in this year’s polls.

The Sawani villager from Vuna, Naitaisiri, said he had much to offer the party after being an avid supporter and loyalist from when it was known as the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua party.

Ro Kiniviliame said Fiji had to shake off its coup culture past and he believed SODELPA was the party that would take the country forward in a positive manner.

“SODELPA has the right policies and proposes a manifesto that will resurrect Fiji and its economy,” he said.

When quizzed as to why he wanted to get into politics again given the level of scrutiny and requirements for each candidate, Ro Kiniviliame said “the level of scrutiny and requirements is a valid, transparent, and a fair exercise because each candidate must be seen to be a good citizen, reputable and must have an unblemished character record if successful in being given the opportunity to serve the country as a member of Parliament”.

Ro Kiniviliame said he believed in the plans SODELPA had in place to take the country forward once the party was elected into power.

“SODELPA has mapped out its strategy for the first 100 days when taking over the government. Taking over will require a smooth transition. SODELPA must be faithful to its promises in the manifesto and the full impact and outcome of the manifesto will at least require two terms in leadership to guarantee the results as promised.”

Ro Kiniviliame attended Sawani Village School for his primary education and transitioned to Queen Victoria School for secondary school.

He furthered his studies at the then School of Maritime Studies (FIT) and later went to the Central Institute of Fisheries Operatives in Chochin, India, and then to the Grimsby Fisheries Institute of Technology in the United Kingdom.
