THE Annual Fiji Seniors’ Golf Open kicked off yesterday at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa, with the tournament spanning three days, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Sponsored by Swire Shipping & V. Prasad Holdings Co. LTD, this 43rd Annual event will feature seniors over the age of 55, including past champions like PC Goundar, Robert Li, Alipate Voicaicake, and defending champion Opetaia Ravai in the Men’s division.
Unfortunately, last year’s Ladies champion Sharon Smith will not be participating.
However, notable contenders in the Ladies division include Agnes Fong Toy and Susan Yee.
Fiji Golf Club Secretary Susan Yee mentioned in the Men’s over 70-years division, Thiphait Hussein will aim to secure the Jack Akbay Trophy once again.
“With 60 confirmed participants, more are expected to join on the day of the competition,” said Yee.
“New players to watch out for include Tom Managreve, Paul Bennion, Richard Kwon, and Eric Nand.
She adds on Wednesday, the tournament will feature a time draw, followed by a seeded draw on Thursday after two days of play.
The Prize Giving/Dinner will take place on Friday at the Central Cuisine Restaurant, where winners will be celebrated.
