The superyacht Amadea, which drew global attention when it was seized in Fiji in 2022, has been sold by the United States government following a sealed-bid auction last month.

A spokesperson for the US Marshals Service confirmed that the 106-metre vessel — once linked to sanctioned Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov — has a new owner, though the buyer’s identity and the sale price remain undisclosed.

The Amadea was detained in Lautoka under a Fijian court order more than three years ago after the US government alleged it was owned by Kerimov, who was under sanctions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The seizure, carried out with cooperation from Fijian authorities, marked one of the most high-profile enforcement actions by the US-led “KleptoCapture” task force.

At the time, the yacht was valued at around US$300 million, featuring six lavish decks with a helipad, infinity pool, private cinema, spas, and golden interiors. The US government later said maintenance costs had ballooned to nearly US$1 million per month while the vessel sat idle.
