Fiji Rugby High-Performance Elite and Performance manager Viliame Gadolo says there is much in store for Fiji Rugby as they prepare to head into 2024.
This includes the FIJI Water Flying Fijians test match with the Barbarians on June 22 at Twickenham next year.
“We have a very busy year for 2024, as we have a few test windows that we need to align with,” he said. “Not only with our national 7s and 15s teams, but also with our national pathways into these teams.”
With players currently part of the HPU, Gadolo says they are looking at ways to improve the way they conduct their training sessions and programs to produce more elite players for the country.
“We already have players who are in our program, but our goal is to come up with better ways to get our players to their full potential and provide elite players to the country.’ While the HPU is always keen to identify raw talent from outer islands, Gadolo said their main focus for next year is to direct all their attention to the players already in their program.
“We love going out to identify raw and untapped talent, but right now we can’t afford to spread ourselves thinly all over the place.
“So for now, we are just looking at directing all our focus to the players that we already have in our program, bringing them to their full potential.”
“But we will certainly look into visiting places where players do not have the chance to get our attention through our competition pathways.”
