THE Port of Suva and the Port of Lautoka have been officially awarded the National 5S Certification by the Fiji National University’s National Training & Productivity Centre (NTPC).

This was announced last week by Fiji Ports Corporation Ltd following the 2025 National Quality & Innovation Conference held on October 2 at the Pearl Resort & Spa Gold Course in Pacific Harbour.

The 5S Certification is a globally recognised standard that promotes workplace organisation, efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement. It is an accreditation that verifies expertise in the 5S workplace organisation methodology, which involves the five principles: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, and Sustain.

Furthermore, the certification is offered through various training providers and equip professionals with the skills to implement 5S to improve efficiency, safety, and productivity in an organisation.

The award recognises improved efficiency, safety and productivity for complex and high-risk environments like ports, terminals, and vessels.

The Fiji Ports Corporation Limited said the achievement reflected Fiji Ports’ strong commitment to “business excellence, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth.”

“We extend our sincere appreciation to NTPC for their guidance and support throughout this journey,” FPCL said in a social media statement.

“This milestone reinforces Fiji Ports’ vision of delivering world-class port services that uphold the highest standards of productivity and innovation.”
