The Fiji Police Force has announced that white substances seized during a raid on a factory in Lami yesterday will be sent to New Zealand for advanced forensic analysis.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu stated initial tests conducted at the Fiji Police Forensic Science Service laboratory returned negative results for illicit drugs.
“However, the detection of two known precursor chemicals used in the production of methamphetamine has raised concerns, prompting further investigation,” he said.
The substances will be analyzed at the New Zealand Institute for Public Health and Forensic Science (PHF Science), a trusted partner in previous investigations.
“The presence of these precursors is a significant concern, and we are committed to determining their specific use.”
“The Fiji Police Force is continuing its investigation to uncover the purpose of the seized materials.”
Mr Tudravu added the public that updates on the case will be provided as progress is made.
