The Fiji Police Force, in partnership with the New Zealand Government, has marked the graduation of two new K9s and their handlers, while bidding farewell to veteran drug-detection dog, Tiny.
The ceremony was officially closed by Charlotte Darlow of the New Zealand High Commission, Suva, at the Multi-Level K9 Training Course.
The course aims to strengthen the capability and sustainability of Fiji’s K9 Unit and align its operations with international standards.
“K9 Nitro and K9 Jango are the latest additions to the Unit, and we congratulate their handlers on their graduation,” the Fiji Police Force said in a statement.
The event also celebrated the retirement of K9 Tiny, who has been instrumental in detecting illicit drugs over the past five years. Friends and colleagues honoured his contributions to law enforcement and public safety.
The Fiji Police Force expressed gratitude to the New Zealand Government and the New Zealand Police for their ongoing support under the Duavata Partnership, which has enhanced policing in Fiji.
