THE Republic of Fiji Navy (RFN) conducted its end-of-year parade last week where three Midshipmen were also formally recognised and commissioned into their officer corps.
Their achievement reflects personal commitment, family support, and the navy’s ongoing investment in future leadership.
Midshipmen Melibua, Midshipmen Tikicidre and Midshipmen Waqabuli were commissioned during a parade at the navy headquarters in Lami.
In a statement, the RFN said the commissioning of the three officers reflected “personal commitment, family support and the RFN’s ongoing investment in future leadership”.
Personnel were also awarded the RFN 50th Anniversary Medal in recognition of their service, sacrifice, and loyalty over the past five decades.
The parade also included the farewell of Chief Perreira of the Royal Australian Navy.
The RFN acknowledged “his outstanding professionalism, support, and genuine friendship as part of the navy family” and extended its thanks to him and his family as they prepared for their next chapter.
The navy said that throughout 2025, its focus remained on “mission delivery, strengthening leadership and organisational culture, raising professional standards through training and deployments, and looking after its people and their families”.
It added it would “continue to invest into its people and footprint within Fiji with the establishment of forward operating bases in Malau, Savusavu, Lautoka, Nadi, Levuka and potentially in other islands in Lomaiviti and Lau.”
