The Fiji Meteorological Service says Christmas Day is shaping up to be a pleasant and mostly favourable one for families across the country, with conditions ideal for outdoor gatherings and traditional festive cooking.
Fiji Met said the weather outlook for Thursday is generally stable, with only brief showers expected in some parts of the country.
“Cloudy periods with a few light showers are expected over Eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Southern Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands — nothing to spoil the Christmas spirit,” the Service said.
For central and southern areas, including Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra, as well as Kadavu, Lau and the Lomaiviti groups, Fiji Met forecast partly cloudy conditions with brief showers.
The Service noted the conditions are well suited for traditional Christmas preparations, particularly lovo cooking, but advised families to plan ahead.
“It’s a great day to prepare the lovo and palusami, but as always, it’s best to start early, as the afternoon may bring a quick festive shower,” Fiji Met said.
