Fiji men’s sevens team finish 6th at LA 7s tournament

The Fiji Airways national men’s 7s side settled for sixth pace at the Los Angeles tournament after going down 21-16 to Argentina in the fifth-place playoff yesterday.

Ropate Rere scored Fiji’s lone try in the first spell as we trailed 14-7.

Ponipate Loganimasi’s try early in the second spell saw the score tied 14-all.

Quick thinking by Napolioni Bolaca saw him take Fiji to a 21-14 lead but Argentina scored two late tries for the win.

Speedster Marcos Moneta scored the winning try after the hooter.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana side finished 11th in the Los Angeles 7s after defeating Spain 40-7.

The next leg of the World Sevens Series will be held in Hong Kong from April 5-7.
