Five days of competition early next month will see the Fiji Men’s netball team play host to three teams in an international men’s netball tournament.

The Fiji Men’s, Fiji A, Tonga national men’s and the Aotearoa Net Blacks will meet in Suva in what is expected to be an exciting week-long fixture.

In a statement, Netball Fiji president RubyAnn Sorovaki acknowledged the tournament as a key component of Fiji’s chances to be part of the Men’s Netball World Cup.

“We are absolutely determined to be part of the first Men’s Netball World Cup, and this tournament is a critical step in that journey,” Sorovaki said.

“Not only are we showcasing the talent in the region, but we are also building momentum and unity among Pacific men’s netball teams.”

As the regional contest brims with anticipation amongst players and supporters, the NZMMA Net Blacks which dominates both men’s and mixed netball will add another dimension of competition in all teams.

Next month’s tournament will see the Fiji Men’s netball team get to work in their latest assignment since their last outing to Australia in April this year.

In that trip, they participated as an invitational team at the Australian Men’s & Mixed Netball Association Championship in Parkville, Melbourne, Australia.

Out of their five matches at the tournament, they won three and lost two.

Prior to their Melbourne outing, they were crowned champions in the 2024 Men’s Netball Nations Series last December in Singapore, beating Australia’s 20 & Under side 55-54.

Meanwhile, the Fiji men’s netball will host the visiting teams and Fiji A from August 4-8 at the Vodafone Arena in Laucala Bay, Suva.
