THE Fiji sporting federation is mourning the loss of former national athlete Ana Ramacake Birch.
Birch, who hails from Visama in Tailevu, passed away on Thursday.
The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) on it website said it was saddened by the passing away of the former long jumper.
Birch was inducted into FASANOC Hall of Fame in 1993.
“The first opportunity to represent Fiji came to Ana at the age of 29 in 1963 with the inauguration of the South Pacific Games,” FASANOC said.
“In the Games she won 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal.
Birch, who was residing in Nadi, also took part in the 1966 New Zealand Championships where she won the gold medal in the long jump event.
