Fiji leads points table

OUR Vodafone 7s team has extended its lead in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series after winning the USA Sevens at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas yesterday.

Fiji now has 91 points ahead of South Africa’s 86. New Zealand is in third position with 82 points while Las Vegas Cup finalist Australia is in fourth place with 73 points.

Fiji and New Zealand have won two tournaments each while South Africa has won one.

National sevens coach Ben Ryan was happy with the team’s performance saying they played good rugby in a tough week.

Ryan added that coming to Las Vegas there were some criticisms from “wannabe” coaches on Fiji’s recent outings in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

“I am pleased with the depth in the team, we will see what we can do in Vancouver but I am happy we have taken the lead,” he said.
