The race is on for a place in the final 22-member squad in the Fiji Kula as 33 players march into camp today at the Fiji Football Academy in Vatuwaqa, Suva.
With two international friendliness lined up against Papua New Guinea on May 30 and June 2, competition is expected to be tough as players fight for selection.
For the Kulas, these matches will serve as valuable preparation ahead of the OFC Women’s Nations Cup and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 qualifiers.
The extended squad features players from across the country, with Ba dominating the list with 13 players.
11 of those Ba players are currently representing Ba Women’s in the OFC Women’s Championship League in Tahiti.
There are four overseas based players in the squad, Angeline Rekha of Western Springs, Adi Litia Bakaniceva of Hekari United, Maria Veronika of and Cema Nasau of Eastern Suburbs.
Labasa has seven players named, Rewa has eight, Nadi has two and there is one each from Lautoka, Suva and Tailevu Naitasiri.
The full extended squad includes Elesi Tabunase, Koleta Likuculacula, Asela Cokanasiga, Luisa Tamani, Alisi Qereqeretabua, Evivi Buka, Ulamila Rasovasova, Asenaca Naio, Mereseni Waqali, Mereoni Tora, Sisilia Kuladina, Sereana Naweni and Adi Ulamila Reva from BA. Teonila Levuiciva and Suliana Vuniyayawa of Nadi. Adi Raijeli Mateni, Annie May, Unaisi Tuberi, Sofi Diyalowai, Ema Mereia, Adi Cinakoro and Selai Tikoisuva of Labasa. Jotivini Tabua, Filomena Racea, Kasanita Tabua, Pijila Kilaiwaca, Sonia Alfred, Naomi Waqanidrola, Emily Esposito and Mereoni Tinai of Rewa. The final 22-member squad will be named after the 10 days camp on May 23.
