TWENTY-NINE-YEAR-OLD Jotivini Tabua is filled with high spirits as she leads her team into their opening match against the Solomon Islands in the 2025 OFC Women’s Nation Cup, which commences today.
Working as a National Fire Authority officer in Labasa, Tabua expresses her team’s excitement and readiness for the tournament ahead.
Familiar with the strength of the Solomon Islands team from past encounters, Tabua acknowledges the experience their opponents possess.
“We always look up to the Soloman Island team, because for the past few years we always play against them, we can see most of their experience players are also part of the team, so we are looking forward for a great match,” said Tabua.
Tabua, who has been playing competitive football for over 15 years now, believe they have the right mix of players to win the tournament.
“We got a lot of young players in the team, few of the players played in the U19 World Cup and U16 team also few overseas based players, we really learn a lot from them, so we have a good young side, and we are all really for the match.
“I thank the coaches and the management for having faith and confidence in my abilities to lead this wonderful tea, I am deeply honoured.”
Under the guidance of Coach Angeline Chua, Tabua emphasises the team’s hard work in training and their commitment to giving their best performance for their nation.
“Coach Angeline Chua has selected a very good team, the players have worked very hard in training to earn their spot, and we promise to give our best for the nation.
