Fiji invited to the Maritime Silk Road International Expo

Update: 5:51PM FIJIAN Government members will be amongst 40 other countries to attend the 2017 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo in Dongguan, People’s Republic of China from September 21 to 24.

Leading the Fijian delegation, Minister for Industry,
Trade, Tourism, Lands and Mineral Resources Faiyaz Koya said Governor of
Guangdong Province Ma Xing Rui?’s invitation to Fiji as a special guest was a
reflection of Fiji’s importance as a strategic partner and conduit to the
Pacific region.

“The Chinese Government considers the Pacific region
as an important extension to the Belt and Road Initiative through the maritime
Silk Road,” he said.

The Fijian delegation include the Permanent Secretary
for Industry, Trade and Tourism Shaheen Ali, Trade Commissioner/Consul-General
Yolinda Chan, President of the Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Peter
Mazey, Senior Trade Officials and representatives from the private sector.
