The 2025 FMF Inter-District Championship will now be played at Churchill Park in Lautoka from October 7-12.
It was initially scheduled to be held at the newly constructed 4R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba.
The decision was made following advice from the Ba Town Council, stating that they will not be able to provide floodlights for the night matches.
In a press statement, the Fiji Football Association stated that when they first confirmed Ba as the host venue, they were informed that the Council would be working with a contractor to provide temporary floodlights during the tournament.
However, they were officially notified on Tuesday that this will no longer be possible.
The FMF IDC is the biggest tournament in the Fiji FA calendar, involving all 20 districts across three divisions, and draws fans from all over the country and abroad.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said the change was necessary to ensure the smooth running of the tournament.
“We were all looking forward to bringing the FMF IDC to Ba and giving fans a chance to enjoy the tournament at the new stadium.
“Unfortunately, with the floodlights not being available, we had to make a prompt decision. Churchill Park has confirmed its availability, and we are confident the tournament will be a success in Lautoka,” he said.
Fiji FA acknowledged the Ba Town Council for their support, hoping to bring future major events once they can meet the requirements for evening matches.
