Fiji Football open trials attracts big numbers

The Fiji FA Academy Program open trials have seen an impressive turnout of over a hundred childeren, with trials being held in different regions of Fiji to select the best players.

The trials are open to boys and girls between the ages of six to 16, with the aim of identifying talented children in each age category.

The head of development in the south,, Sushil Singh,, has expressed satisfaction with the turnout, noting that more than 100 children show up daily for the trials.

He encourages those who are still interested to join the program.

“We have a three-week program for this school holidays, that will run up to January 27 before we finalise the top talents that will continue with our elite training program and will run throughout the year,” said Singh.

The program aims to develop selected players into potential national team age grade players. It is open to all interested children and there are no fees charged for participation.

“We want to develop them further to become potential national team age grade players,” said Singh.

“The program has attracted kids from various areas including Nausori, Nasinu, Suva, Lami, and Tailevu Naitasiri.

“After the school holidays, selected kids will be put into talent centres in Nausori, which will make it easier for them to attend after school,” he added.
