The Fiji football community is in mourning following the tragic death of Suva women’s football representative Vane Lolo Tukania, who died in a hit-and-run accident along Ratu Dovi Road in Nadera on Saturday.
Tukania, the daughter of former national and Labasa football star Tevita Tukania, was celebrated for her dedication both on and off the field.
She had represented Fiji at the Under-17 level, played for the Labasa women’s side, and was a valued member of the Suva women’s team. Beyond football, she served as a fire officer, earning respect for her commitment and courage in the role.
Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel described her passing as a profound loss.
“This is a heartbreaking loss for the entire football community. Vane was not only a talented and dedicated footballer but also a remarkable young woman who served her country with pride,” Patel said.
“Her passion, discipline, and warm spirit touched everyone who knew her. On behalf of Fiji Football, we extend our deepest condolences to her family, teammates, and friends during this very painful time.”
Tukania will be laid to rest in Labasa on Saturday, with family members, friends, and football officials expected to gather to pay their final respects and celebrate her life.
