Vodafone Fiji Fashion Week will shift from its planned two-day programme to a single-day event, organisers have confirmed, citing economic pressures facing the country.

Managing Director Ellen Whippy-Knight said the decision followed extensive discussions with industry stakeholders, acknowledging the rising cost of fuel and essential goods.

“This was not an easy decision,” she said. “We recognise the financial pressures many in our community are facing, and we felt it was important to respond with care and responsibility.”

Despite the change in format, Ms Whippy-Knight emphasised that the purpose and spirit of Fiji Fashion Week remain unchanged.

“At the heart of this decision is our commitment to our people, our designers, supporters and the wider public,” she said. “It is a vital platform for our creative industry and a celebration of local talent.”

The event will now be held as a one-day showcase on Saturday, May 30, at the Vodafone Arena, featuring 15 designers.

Ms Whippy-Knight said while scaling back was difficult, organisers were confident the event would remain impactful.

“We are confident that this single showcase will be a strong event that continues to support and uplift our fashion industry,” she said.
