Suva and Rewa maintained their unbeaten records after playing out an exciting 1-1 draw in the second round of the 2026 BiC Fiji FACT at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.
The highly anticipated Southern derby lived up to expectations, with both sides producing an entertaining contest that leaves them well placed heading into the final round of pool matches.
Rewa entered the match as slight favourites, boosted by the return of several players who recently featured in the OFC Professional League. However, it was Suva who made the brighter start and created the better chances during the opening stages.
The Capital City side was rewarded midway through the first half when striker Sitotame Kubu was brought down inside the penalty area. Youngster Malakai Lavecake calmly stepped up and converted from the spot to hand Suva a deserved 1-0 lead at halftime.
Rewa responded strongly after the break, making three substitutions, including the introduction of experienced campaigner Tevita Waranivalu. The changes sparked the Delta Tigers into action as they increased the tempo and pressed for an equaliser.
Their persistence paid off when Setareki Hughes delivered a perfectly weighted pass to captain Kavaia Rawaqa, who made no mistake from inside the penalty box to level the scores.
Rewa continued to push for a winner, but Suva’s defence stood firm. Substitute Samuela Drudru also threatened on the counterattack, keeping the Rewa backline under pressure until the final whistle.
Rewa now sits on four points from two matches, while Suva has collected two points.
Today, Suva faces Navua at 12.30pm, while Rewa takes on host Labasa at 2.30pm.
