A decisive weekend lies ahead in the Extra Premier League football competition, with a crucial round of matches set to determine which teams qualify for the 2024 BIC Fiji FACT.

As most teams wrap up their eighth match by Sunday, the top eight sides could be confirmed for the first major tournament of the year.

Fiji Football Association CEO Mohammed Yusuf highlighted the high stakes, noting that several teams are in must-win situations.

“This could be a critical round for many teams, as a loss might mean missing out on the Fiji FACT,” Yusuf said.

He identified Lautoka, Nadi, Nasinu, and Ba as teams that need positive results to stay in contention.

The action kicks off tomorrow (Thursday) with Ba hosting Rewa at Churchill Park at 6pm.

On Sunday, five matches are scheduled across different venues.

Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori will feature a doubleheader, with Suva taking on Lautoka at 1pm, followed by Nasinu against Rewa at 3pm.

In Sigatoka, Nadroga hosts Labasa at Lawaqa Park at 1pm, while Ba faces Tavua at 3pm at the Fiji FA Academy Ground. Nadi will play Navua at 3pm at King Charles Park.

An additional fixture will be played next Friday, May 16, when Rewa faces Nadi in what could be a pivotal encounter depending on this weekend’s results.

With Fiji FACT qualification on the line, fans can expect an intense and competitive round of football as teams battle to keep their tournament hopes alive.
