Fiji Football Association has secured the support of Flour Mills of Fiji (FMF) as its new major sponsor for the upcoming Inter-District Championship.
The contract signing was done at the FMF chairman’s boardroom in Walu Bay, Suva yesterday marking the first step towards a five-year partnership deal.
Both parties have agreed to keep the sponsorship amount confidential.
“Football is a sport well loved in Fiji and the IDC is a premier event that showcases the best of our local talent. By partnering with the Fiji FA, we aim to provide the players with the resources and opportunities they need to excel and achieve their dreams,” FMF Group operations manager Jimi Taniela said.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said the support came at the right time.
“This is a milestone step that together in the next five years FMF IDC will be synonymous in every household and we will together help with the growth of football and your brand,” Patel said.
The biggest tournament in Fiji FA’s calendar will now be known as the 2024 FMF IDC.
As a tradition, the tournament will see 20 districts compete in the senior, premier, and super premier divisions.
The prizemoney for the super premier winner is $25,000 while the runner-up gets $6000.
The FMF IDC is scheduled for October 15-20 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
