The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has confirmed the appointment of Frenchman Stéphane Auvray as the new head coach of the national men’s football team, marking the beginning of a new era for Fijian football ahead of the 2026 season.

The 44-year-old former professional midfielder brings extensive international experience both on and off the field.

Auvray’s playing career included stints with clubs such as Major League Soccer’s Kansas City Wizards and Brunei DPMM FC in the Singapore Premier League.

He also captained the Guadeloupe national team, where his calm leadership and tactical intelligence in midfield earned him respect across the Caribbean football scene.

After hanging up his boots, Auvray moved into coaching, taking charge of the Saint Martin national team in 2019 before joining FIFA in 2023 as a Talent Coach, working on player development and grassroots programs in multiple regions.

Fiji FA said Auvray’s appointment aligns with its long-term vision to elevate Fiji’s competitiveness on the international stage and strengthen the development pathway for local players.
