Fiji drops two spots

The national men’s team has fallen two places in the latest FIFA World Men’s Football ranking released last week. Fiji is ranked at 170 and seventh in the Oceania behind New Zealand (103), Solomon Islands (133), Papua New Guinea (159), New Caledonia (161), Tahiti (162), Vanautu (165).

Oceania teams below Fiji are American Samoa (180), Cook Islands (189), Samoa (190) and Tonga (194) Fiji was earlier ranked 168 in the FIFA ranking released on April 6 this year.

In the most recent international matches, the Digicel Bula Boys competed in the Tri-Nations FIFA International Friendlies held in March at Churchill Park in Lautoka where they failed to register a win.

The side which was coached by Marika Rodu, lost 1-2 to Vanautu, drew against the Digicel Junior Bula Boys 2-all and were defeated by the Solomon Islands 2-0.

The national women’s football team improved one spot in the latest FIFA Women’s Ranking released on June 9 and are currently ranked 69th in the world.

The Digicel Kulas side are ranked third in the Oceania behind New Zealand (26) and Papua New Guinea (55).

2022 FIFA World Cup winner Argentina is ranked as the best national men’s football team in the world followed by France (2), Brazil (3), England (4) and Belgium (5).
