The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team has advanced to the semi-finals of the HSBC SVNS Cape Town 7s after a commanding 35-5 win over New Zealand this morning.
Fiji dominated the first half with three unanswered tries, two from Vuiviwa Naduvalo and one from Pilipo Bukayaro, for a 21-0 lead at the break.
A yellow card to Ilikimi Vunaki briefly halted their momentum, allowing New Zealand’s Jayden Keelan to score. However, Terio Veilawa sealed the result with two late tries.
Fiji earlier lost 24-21 to South Africa before edging Great Britain 21-17 in pool play.
They face Argentina at 10.44 tonight, while France meets South Africa in the other semi-final.
The final kicks off at 2.43am tomorrow.
