Fiji deaf team off to world rugby 7s

Fiji will participate in the 2023 World Deaf Rugby 7s which starts in Cordoba, Argentina tomorrow.

The national side departed for the tournament yesterday morning.

The five-day event is hosted by Union Rugby Sordos Argentina and will end on Sunday.

The tournament has also attracted teams from Japan, Hong Kong, England, Australia and South Africa.

A women’s competition will run alongside the men’s event.

The organisers of the World Deaf Rugby 7s Rugby World Cup have stated that they aimed to surpass all previous international deaf rugby tournaments in size, quality and diversity.

Two Barbarians teams are part of the competition as well.

There are 10 men’s teams and six women’s teams.

Men:

Group A: Wales, Japan, Barbarians, Fiji

Group B: England, Australia, South Africa, Argentina

Women:

Group A: England, Australia, Wales, Barbarians.
