THE Fiji Airways Fiji men’s sevens team are joint leaders of the HSBC SVNS table after a bronze medal finish in Cape Town, South Africa yesterday.
The third place finish ensured the Osea Kolinisau-coached Fiji side 32 points on the standings after two tournaments on the circuit.
Fiji finished with 16 points in Cape Town after beating France 26-19 in a thrilling third place playoff while South Africa’s successful title defence earns them the maximum 20 points.
Fiji and South Africa are currently leading the series with 32 points each while New Zealand in third place with 28 points.
France is in fourth place with 28 points, Australia in fifth place with 26 points, while last season’s series winner Argentina is in sixth spot with 24 points.
Meanwhile, our Fiji Airways Fijiana sevens team are in sixth place after their seventh-place finish in Cape Town.
Fijiana beat Great Britain 47-7 in a dominant display performance to finish the tournament on a high note.
Australia and New Zealand are tied at 38 points but a better points differential to the Australians see’s them leading the women’s competition after the Cape Town leg.
Japan is third with 28 points, followed by USA in fourth with 26 points and France is in fifth place with 24 points.
The next tournament on the circuit is in Singapore which will be held from January 31, 2026.
