Fiji and China’s Jiangsu province share a commitment to innovation, sustainable development and cultural exchange.
Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications Manoa Kamikamica highlighted this at the Chinese Embassy in Suva during the reception for representatives of Jiangsu Province on Friday evening.
The delegation, led by vice governor of Jiangsu Province Fang Wei, is here to enhance cooperation in agriculture and climate change between China and Fiji.
Mr Kamikamica commended Jiangsu’s rich cultural heritage and rapid economic growth which he said were a source of inspiration for Fiji.
“We see in your achievements a blueprint for our own aspirations of progress and prosperity,” Mr Kamikamica said.
“The projects and initiatives presented today serve as a beacon of hope, demonstrating what can be achieved when people come together in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect.
“As we look towards the future, Fiji is eager to deepen our engagement with Jiangsu across various fields.
“Whether it’s through trade, investment, or cultural exchanges, we are committed to building bridges that foster understanding and create opportunities for our people.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our friends from Jiangsu for sharing their vision, achievements and development experience with us today.
“Your presence here underscores the importance of dialogue and partnership in addressing global challenges and seizing opportunities for growth and development.
“We look forward to strengthening our partnership and prospects of future collaboration.”
Chinese ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian said China would always be good brother and partner to Pacific Island Countries.
“The Coalition Government of Fiji is leading its people towards development and prosperity, while the Communist Party of China is leading Chinese people to building a great country and rejuvenating the nation on all fronts through the Chinese path to modernisation,” Mr Zhou said.
“The development of Jiangsu will surely bring new opportunities to Fiji.
“I hope the two sides could seize on Mr Fang Wei’s visit, further strengthen bilateral cooperation, so as to benefit the two places and peoples.”
