A Fiji-born entrepreneur who came to the United States after his family won a Diversity Visa lottery has built a thriving business in the Dayton region, Dayton Daily News reports.
Ashwin Narayan, who arrived in the US as a teenager when his family won the visa lottery, has since become a successful local business owner with multiple UPS Store franchises in Washington Township, Blue Ash and Westchester.
Narayan told Dayton Daily News that stepping off the plane as a young immigrant was “a complete culture shock,” but he and his family were determined to build a better life.
After serving in the US Air Force and later transitioning into business, Narayan purchased his first UPS Store in 2013. He has expanded steadily, combining strategic vision with community engagement.
“I got the store fixed up and the employees were running it and doing a great job,” Narayan said, recounting his early steps into ownership.
His success reflects the broader economic contributions of immigrant entrepreneurs in the region, strengthening local communities and creating jobs.
Narayan remains committed to giving back, offering support to veterans and service members, and has set his sights on further growth, aiming to one day own ten UPS Store locations.
