SAFE passage to Wairiki, Taveuni for the Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s, which starts today, is something the Axellerate Aflame Brothers under-21 team was grateful for.

The team made the long journey from Sigatoka to the Narain Jetty in Suva on Tuesday, to board the MV Lady Daya, a Goundar Shipping inter-island vessel that ferried a majority of teams heading to Taveuni for the tournament.

This was revealed by team captain Joeli Ratusala.

“Firstly, we would like to thank the Lord for his guidance and protection over us today (yesterday) as we left Sigatoka to make our way to Taveuni,” Ratusala said.

The Wema, Navosa skipper shared their continued participation at various Fiji Bitter 7s tournaments over the years had made them choose to compete at Wairiki once again as other 7s competitions will be in full swing across the country this week.

With the under-21 tournament expected to be a fully heated contest with 16 teams competing for the spot, he says the team’s goal is simple.

“Our aim is to achieve what we set out to do,” he said.
