The Lilian Amazon women’s rugby team has created history by becoming the first Fijian women’s side to win a major UK sevens tournament.

The Nadi-based side won the prestigious LIT 7s Elite Women’s Super Sevens Series title after defeating a strong Hong Kong China outfit 21–19 in the final of the National Pub 7s tournament.

It was a thrilling finish to the tournament, with both teams displaying speed, strength, and high skill levels. But it was the Amazon women’s determination, resilience, and famous Fijian flair that sealed the win.

This historic victory is a major milestone not only for the club but also for Fijian women’s rugby on the international stage.

Team coach Solo Baleisolomone said the win means more than just a title.

“This is history in the making. These women have represented Fiji with pride and have broken new ground for Fijian and Pacific Island women in rugby. Their journey has been built on hard work, sacrifice, and heart. I’m so proud of every player,” he said.

The Lilian Amazon team’s success adds to the growing push to develop women’s rugby and create more opportunities for Pacific Island players in the UK and Europe.

The team also acknowledged the support from their families, fans, and sponsors, dedicating the victory to all who have backed their journey.
